Rape Aggression Defense Training

Beginning in 2002, the Portland Police Department has partnered with the Amy St. Laurent Foundation to offer Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Training to members of the community. To learn more about Amy and the foundation set up as her legacy, please visit the Foundation website.

R.A.D. is a self-defense program geared toward realistic options for the student. Each session includes educational components comprised of lecture, discussion, and physical resistive strategies. The Portland Police Department offers several R.A.D. sessions each year with the $30 course registration fee going to the Amy St. Laurent Foundation. Each session is comprised of five classes. The first four classes meet from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm; the fifth class meets on Saturday from 8:00 am through noon. All classes are held at the Portland Police Department (109 Middle Street).
