Duties of the Department


The Department of Public Works helps keep the City of Portland moving each day with many areas of responsibility. We collect your garbage and recycling, clear your streets of ice and snow in the winter, help maintain the city's sewer system, build your sidewalks, manage the city's traffic lights and street signage, and the list goes on.
  1. Delay of Washington Ave Sewer Separation Project

    Due to the current weather conditions, D&C Construction will not be starting work on Washington Avenue until March 15, 2018. Details of the work schedule will be updated as available.
  2. Christmas Tree Curbside Collection During January

    Christmas Trees can be left curbside for collection on your normal trash day during the month of January. Crews will begin picking them up this Saturday, December 30 for the Monday route as there is no collection on New Year's Day. Read on...
  3. Bedford St Sewer Separation Neighborhood Meeting
