Youth Skills and Drills Open Ice Hockey Hour (7–13 year olds)

This is a great time to practice drills and shoot on some nets! One parent is welcome to register and join their child on the ice.  For youth skater safety, full hockey equipment is required. Hockey Skills ISI Group Lessons for Youth & Adults

 Skaters are introduced to balance, flow, agility, speed, and correct skating technique. Introduction includes stick handling (no pucks). Hockey skates, sticks, and helmets with a shield are required. 

●  Beginner  Hockey Skills - Must have completed a beginner skating skills class or be able to skate forward and backwards.

●  Level I Hockey Skills – Skater has completed Beginner Hockey Skills Class or played 1 season in an organized youth program

●  Level II Hockey Skills – Skater has completed a Level 1 class – In Level II, skaters will become more efficient while skating backwards and be introduced to back crossovers, as well as improve upon their edge work.

●  Level III Hockey Skills – Skater has completed a Level II Class – This class is for  advanced hockey players only. Skaters will work with instructor on setting  individual goals they wish to accomplish.

Casco Bay Hockey Association
A youth hockey program for ages 5 – 18, Casco Bay Hockey Association age divisions skate approximately twice a week including both practices and games. Break the Ice, Initiation, Mites, Squirts, PeeWees, Bantams, and Midgets are divisions within the program and are broken down by birthdate. Women’s Hockey
Greater Portland Women’s Ice Hockey League (GPWIH) is a non-checking recreational league developed by, and for, women ice hockey players. They are open to players of all levels ages 18 and over. For more info, please contact Denise Tanguay at gpwih@maine.rr.com.

High School Hockey
The William B. Troubh Ice Arena is home ice to four local high schools. Portland/Deering, Cheverus, South Portland, and Cape Elizabeth all call PIA home. Games are played on Wednesday afternoons, Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoon/evenings from December to February. Most schools have both boys & girls teams and include a Junior Varsity and middle school-age program.
